On April 3, 2016, the world lost a kind and caring soul as Clark Wilkins Kern, 20, went home to be with the Lord. He was born on June 29, 1995, in Hot Springs. Clark attended and graduated from Christian Ministries Academy where he was a member of the drama club, basketball team, and student council. He graduated in May, 2013, and then attended National Park Community College.
Clark loved spending time with family and friends. He was a good natured, easy going and affectionate young man who was always accepting of people. Clark was also a voracious reader, a practical joker, and loved to beat people at any game in which he competed. He will always be remembered by friends and family for his great hugs. In spite of his courageous battle with the debilitating disease, NF2, Clark never lost his zeal for life, maintaining a quiet strength and an adventurous spirit.
Clark is the beloved son of Paul and Angela (Byrd) Kern and older brother of Cole Kern. He leaves his maternal grandparents Judy Saulsbury, of Hot Springs and Dan and Patsy Byrd, of El Dorado; and his paternal grandmother, Sara Wilkins of Henderson, Texas. Clark is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as a loving community and many dear friends.
His presence was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him and he will be greatly missed.
